We ate here two out of our four nights in Rome. The food is authentic the prices are good, and the service was friendly. They have a man freshly preparing the mushrooms and artichokes outside, and probably whatever is in season at the time. All the other restraunts around were always packed, expensive and with wait times of two hours. They were able to seat us both times without a reservation. 100% recommend Ristorante Arco Di S. Calisto.

Ossobuco is not cooked well, not much flavor, it was just ok. My friends steak was good. Margherita pizza was also just ok Prices are reasonable. Restaurant is on a quiet side area.

We were fortunate enough to be in Roma during porcini mushroom season. Fresh porcini are a god-send. At All'Arco di S. Calisto there was a man sitting at a table at an entrance to the restaurant cleaning/prepping a pile of fresh porcini. So we ordered them. We had them grilled as an antipasto and they were incredible. I had a porcini pasta, which was also amazing. The carciofi alla Romana (artichokes) were really good. My husband had the carbonara, which he really enjoyed but said he's definitely had better. We finished with a panna cotta with a berry coulis, which was delightful. There were a couple things that were mild put-offs in the experience, which had nothing to do with the food. First, they don't have a house wine by the carafe. We always order the house wine in Italy because it is typically as good as many bottles - and soooo much cheaper. We normally order a half-carafe. When I requested it they said they only had half-bottles, nothing by the carafe. So we paid dearly for a half-bottle of chianti. Second, the staff, while pleasant, were definitely trying to "up sell" and promote you ordering more, or something more expensive. They also pushed for a tip, holding the bill in front of you pointing to the "tip" line. This is not what one typically finds in a restaurant in Italy. We sat outside and the ambiance was wonderful. The food was for the most part excellent, so we really enjoyed our evening. As I said, the downsides were minor and didn't really detract from a lovely evening.

I would like to express my gratitude to your entire staff! We first visited your restaurant in April this year, and fate smiled upon us as we were in Rome again at the beginning of August. We absolutely wanted to come and have dinner with you. Let me start by saying that the atmosphere is magical. Everyone on the staff is incredibly warm, welcoming, and kind. The food was simply outstanding. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine and atmosphere. We would come back every time we visit Rome. Thank you! Greetings from Bulgaria.

Unbelievable experience!! We got the fresh fish of the day for two and a lasagna to split and it was incredible. The waiter brought out the raw fish to show us the size and quality and then cut the cooked presentation right in front of you. See the video. 10/10 experience I definitely recommend.

5 stars. We had a 7 year old and they custom made home made pasta plus bolognaise. The service was excellent and food superb. Definitely worth a visit.

We had a wonderful lunch here earlier, both the Carbonara and the Cacio e Pepe were excellent - theres two seating areas with tables adjacent the restaurant being by far the more atmospheric, highly recommended and our fav place by far. I knocked one star off as we were charged for bread which didn't arrive!

We came on a busy summer Sunday night. We had to wait about 20 minutes to sit down. From there, it was a gastronomical experience. The servers don’t walk, they run. The owners were on property, including grandpa who was slicing mushrooms outside. The food was amazing. I had the traditional carbonara, and I almost ordered a second one to go! Would totally come back.

Ristorante Arco Di S. Calisto, tucked away on Via dell'Arco di S. Calisto in Rome, offers an authentic slice of Italian culinary tradition. This Italian restaurant embraces seasonal ingredients, evident in the lively scene of a chef expertly preparing fresh porcini mushrooms and Roman-style artichokes right at the entrance. These details hint at a devotion to freshness and authenticity that resonates throughout the menu.

The hallmark dishes here skillfully balance tradition and bold flavor. The Tiramisù Della Casa is a delicate finale, perfectly melding light mascarpone with espresso-soaked ladyfingers, leaving a lingering sweetness. For pasta lovers, the Paccheri Ricciola e Bottarga and Tonnarelli Trombolotto e Bottarga con Gamberi offer a rich taste of the sea, where the briny bottarga elevates fresh seafood and handmade pasta in sublime harmony.

Pizza at Arco Di S. Calisto stands out with classics like the Marinara and Margherita, showcasing a thin, crisp crust and vibrant tomato sauce. While some patrons find parts of the pizza experience moderate, others celebrate every bite as true to Roman tradition.

For those who crave hearty, regional specialties, the Coda Alla Vaccinara and Trippa Alla Romana deliver with rustic depth and comforting earthiness. The Fettuccine con Funghi Porcini is a seasonal treasure, loved especially during mushroom season, its creamy sauce highlighting the unique umami of freshly cleaned porcini. This dish alone reflects the kitchen’s respect for ingredient quality and timing.

Vegetables and sides such as the Carciofi Roman Style bring freshness and balance, showcasing Roman cuisine’s simple yet striking vegetable preparations. While some guests have noted a push toward upselling and a less flexible wine selection, the warmth of the staff and the quiet ambiance in this tucked-away locale often create an inviting dining atmosphere that feels both genuine and relaxed.

Whether seating is secured last minute or by reservation, diners repeatedly praise the reasonable prices paired with the authenticity that captures Rome’s culinary spirit. The experience is rounded out with memorable presentations — like raw fish shown before cooking or fresh mushrooms cleaned before your eyes — that invite you into the kitchen’s craftsmanship.

In short, Ristorante Arco Di S. Calisto is a worthy destination for anyone seeking honest Italian flavors steeped in Roman heritage, where every dish tells a story of tradition, freshness, and the seasons of Italy’s capital.
